Student Counselling Committee

Objective

St. Ann’s College for Women is committed to promoting the mental, emotional, and academic well-being of students. The Student Counselling Committee provides a safe, inclusive, and confidential support system to help students address personal, academic, and psychological concerns, in alignment with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission and NAAC best practices.

Scope of Counselling Services

The Committee extends support in the following areas:

  • Academic Counselling:Study skills, time management, academic improvement, and examination stress
  • Personal Counselling:Emotional well-being, self-confidence, and personal challenges
  • Career Guidance:Higher education, career planning, and goal setting
  • Behavioural Counselling:Adjustment issues, peer pressure, and interpersonal relationships
  • Health & Wellness:Stress management, mental health awareness, and positive lifestyle practices

Roles & Responsibilities

The Student Counselling Committee undertakes the following duties:

  • Provide psychological, emotional, and academic counselling to students
  • Identify students experiencing stress, anxiety, or personal difficulties through mentoring and interaction
  • Offer guidance for academic improvement and career planning
  • Conduct regular counselling sessions, workshops, and awareness programmes
  • Promote mental health, well-being, and positive thinking among students
  • Address issues such as peer pressure, examination stress, and adjustment challenges
  • Ensure confidentiality, empathy, and a supportive environment
  • Encourage healthy relationships, communication skills, and life skills development
  • Collaborate with mentors, faculty, parents, and professionals when required
  • Maintain systematic records and reports of counselling activities and follow-ups

  • Orientation programmes on mental health and student well-being
  • Workshops on stress management, emotional intelligence, and life skills
  • Individual and group counselling sessions
  • Awareness campaigns on mental health and wellness
  • Referral support to trained psychologists in critical cases
