Anti-Ragging Committee
Objective
St. Ann’s College for Women is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and ragging-free campus environment. The Anti-Ragging Committee functions in accordance with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission and the Government to prevent and eliminate ragging in all forms.
Roles & Responsibilities
The Committee undertakes the following responsibilities:
- Ensure a ragging-free campus environment at all times
- Implement anti-ragging regulations as per Government and University norms
- Create awareness among students regarding the ill-effects and legal consequences of ragging
- Monitor student behaviour in classrooms, hostels, and campus premises to ensure discipline
- Receive, investigate, and address complaints related to ragging promptly and confidentially
- Take strict disciplinary action against individuals involved in ragging
- Conduct regular meetings, inspections, and surprise checks
- Display anti-ragging notices, guidelines, and helpline information prominently on campus
- Counsel students to promote harmony, mutual respect, and inclusiveness
- Maintain proper records and reports of incidents, actions taken, and preventive measures

Committee Activities
- Awareness Programmes:Orientation sessions for first-year students on anti-ragging norms and student rights
- Undertaking Collection:Submission of anti-ragging affidavits by students and parents as per UGC norms
- Counselling & Mentoring:Regular interaction with students to ensure emotional well-being and smooth adjustment
- Surveillance Measures:Monitoring through faculty vigilance, surprise visits, and feedback mechanisms
- Display & Communication:Posters, banners, and digital notices across campus highlighting anti-ragging rules and helplines
- Collaboration with Authorities:Coordination with local police and legal authorities when required
- Grievance Redressal:Prompt handling of complaints through a confidential and student-friendly mechanism
Reporting & Documentation
To ensure transparency and compliance, the Committee maintains:
- Minutes of Meetings (with action taken reports)
- Incident Registers (if any cases are reported)
- Preventive Measures Record (awareness programmes, campaigns conducted)
- Student Undertaking Records (as mandated by UGC)
- Annual Report summarizing activities, outcomes, and status of ragging cases
- Submission of Compliance Reports to relevant authorities

Institutional Commitment
The institution follows a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging. Any student found guilty of ragging will face strict disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion, as per UGC regulations.
